The main reason for the shutdown of manufacturing equipment is bearing failure. Automatic equipment lubrication pumps greatly reduce maintenance and electric lubrication pump maintenance costs by automating small amounts of grease on a frequent basis and by lengthening the machine's uptime to allow for proper lubrication when bearings are needed (in use).
In addition, when manually lubricated, you run the risk of overlubrication or underlubrication, which can lead to machine failure. If additional cooling is required, the equipment may be equipped with one or two aluminum fans, oil sump and hydraulic pump forced lubrication systems to supply filtered cold oil to many gears and bearings.
The system usually consists of motors or axle-driven pumps, filters, many required monitoring instruments, and air-pair oil or water-cooled heat exchangers for additional cooling to check whether the pressure switch is operating correctly. The switch is located behind the lubricating oil pump assembly. Use the setup meter to measure the resistance between two leads on the switch.
The plunger commands the spindle to run at a speed of 5 RPM approximately every (30) minutes. Measure the voltage of the lubricating oil pump motor. Use the one set to VAC. If the voltage is 120 VAC but does not move, change the pump. Check the worm screws in the water tank. If the pump is receiving voltage, the screw rotates slowly at 1 RPM.
Test the system for leakage by manually lifting the plunger. The pressure gauge will show the pressure and gradually drop to zero. This will take 3 to 10 minutes. If the pressure drops, check the lubricating oil pump for leakage. Check many axial linear guide rail forklifts and ball screws for lubrication signs. Check each flowmeter, lubrication device and connector.
